Po mu is an evergreen deciduous tree, 25–30 m tall. The tree has a gray-brown bark that is easily erased in the absence of a tree. In older trees, there is a longitudinal crack in the bark, which is fragrant. Pemou trees are wildly grown in the virgin forests, distributed in the west mountainous area of Northern Vietnam and the Central Highlands
The trees are cut down for wood to make handicrafts and furniture. The roots and the leftover handicrafts and furniture’s production process are used for oil distillation.
