June 1st is International Children's Day, a Tet holiday dedicated to children. On this day, the children are received loving congratulations and special gifts from their grandparents, parents, and relatives.
At Tech-Vina, on this occasion, the Techvina Union prepared small gifts with meaningful greeting cards to send to Tech-Vina staff children, wishing them to study well, stay healthy and be fun every day.
Maybe you don’t know!
The history of International Children's Day 1.6, is rooted in a heartbreaking story.
At dawn on June 1, 1942, the Nazis surrounded the village of Lidice (former Czechoslovakia, now the Czech Republic), and arrested 173 men, 196 women and children. 66 people were murdered and 104 children were sent to concentration camps, 88 children died in gas chambers, and 9 others were sent to work as Nazis' henchmen.
Two years later, on June 10, 1944, the Nazis again besieged the town of Oradour (France), cornered 400 people in the church, including many women and more than 100 children, and set fire to make all people inside death.
In memory of hundreds of innocent children who the Nazis murdered, in 1949, the International Federation of Democratic Women decided to make June 1 every year to be the International Day for the Protection of Children. Governments of all countries must take responsibility for the lives of children, and request a reduction in military budgets to increase funding for education, protection and take care of young people and children.
Vietnam is the first country in Asia and the second in the world to ratify the Convention on the Rights of the Child - the first international legal document that comprehensively addresses children's rights based on the principle that the child has the right to special care, protection and help.
