Vietnam Basil Oil’s Third Harvest 2025 and Market Dynamics

Following our market update in August, this article provides a detailed look at the current situation now that the third – and final – basil oil harvest of 2025 has concluded.

1.Harvest Challenges & Reduced Yield

As projected during the second harvest, high rainfall throughout the year has continued to challenge farmers. The consistent rains from the first harvest through the last directly impacted yields, resulting in a significantly reduced output for the third harvest. This environmental factor, coupled with the widespread cultivation of basil, is reshaping agricultural practices.

2. Expanding Cultivation and the Need for Expertise

Basil is now grown far beyond its traditional alluvial lands along riverbanks. Farmers are increasingly planting it in croplands, a trend that began after the price slump during the COVID-19 pandemic. This diversification in growing locations means that different cultivation methods must be applied to ensure a successful crop, from land preparation and seed selection to irrigation and pest control.

Techvina is proactively addressing these challenges by creating a series of workshops for farmers. Our goal is to equip them with the most suitable practices to increase their yield and quality. By ensuring a stable and high-quality supply, we can help maintain a stable market price, which ultimately contributes to a consistent income for both farmers and distillers.
