In recent weeks, Vietnam has faced the devastating effects of the Yagi storm, the most significant storm to hit the region in 30 years. This natural disaster has taken a heavy toll on northern Vietnam, causing substantial damage and loss of life, and has particularly affected the Cassia oil industry.
The aftermath of the storm has left many Cassia farmers in a difficult situation. Flooding forced numerous families to evacuate their homes, delaying their return to normal agricultural activities. Even those whose homes were not directly affected are struggling with the collection of Cassia leaves and twigs, which have become wet and are beginning to decay. The persistent rain has further reduced the oil content in the Cassia, complicating the harvesting process.
On the production side, distillers are facing their own set of challenges. Spoiled stock and damaged equipment have hindered operations, making it difficult to maintain production levels.
While the full extent of the storm's impact is still being assessed, it is clear that the Cassia oil industry has been significantly affected. We are committed to keeping our stakeholders informed as the situation develops. Should you require more detailed information from Vietnam, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.
